This story took shape when a volunteer from the Bay area moved to Phoenix. Small efforts were made to have booths at events organized by the Indian community, talk to patrons, and spread awareness about the cause. Their first big break came in 2006, when the team organized a fundraising event in association with Arizona Telugu Association. Renowned singer Dr. Balamurli Krishna graced the occasion and it turned out to be a sold out event. This event was followed by another succesful fundraiser with singer Hariharan. Indo American Foundation of Phoenix, and Arizona Tamil Sangam supported the event. Similar events have been organized since, and this team has made a constant effort to continue to raise awareness about SEF and collect funds.has been a strong base for Sankara Eye Foundation.
