Shimoga hospital was inaugurated on October 12th, 2008 and has become a favorite of the local population. This hospital became functional due to the initiative of a group of residents from the town who wanted to solve the lack of a quality eye clinic in the heart of Karnataka surrounded by districts with a high prevalence of curable blindness. The project started with help from champions like Dr. Ashok and Dr. Raji Sonni and support from organizations like KKNC & Katte & AKKA, but we had to raise a loan to complete the project. We request your support to help repay the loan and to buy additional new equipment. At present the hospital employs over 20 Doctors including 8 Ophthalmologists, 6 Fellows in Opthalmolgoy,2 DNB students, 4 from General Medicine and 115Administrative and Paramedic Staff.
